A Few Comparisons

Laney is 4 months old today! What a wonderful little baby she is. She is having fun playing on her blanket and hanging out in her swing. I love the way she's interacting with us all, but especially Brooks. She smiles at him and "talks" to him. Brooks get excited too and will comment: "Look, Mom! Laney's talking to me!" And of course he's talking in the high pitch voice that we use to talk to her, which just makes it all even cuter! On top of being a great little sister, Laney continues to be a great sleeper. She takes two 2-2 1/2 hour naps a day and a cat nap in the late afternoon. After her bath in the evening, she goes down around 8:00 just to start over the following morning around 6:30 (7:00 on the weekends).

My little four-month old is growing!
Weight: 10 lbs 11 oz (3%)
Length: 24 1/2 inches (50%)
She's actually the same length as Brooks was but she's a pound lighter. Pretty amazing when you consider that she was 6 weeks early and she's being compared to full-term babies.

Laney got to ride in the Baby Bjorn the other day while I pushed Brooks in the stroller:

Brooks still sleeps with his blankie, which is not quite as soft as it used to be. Here is Brooks with his special blanket back in the day:

I know the outfit is a little "boyish" but I saved it from Brooks because I loved it so much. I added the bow on Laney to add a "girly" touch.

Show me the Love!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Hook 'em Horns

Just wanted to document Laney's first Longhorn dress. She looks pretty darn cute in burnt orange if you ask me! The dress was given to her by her Birdie and we were planning on having her wear it for the Texas football bowl game. But...
#1: There was no Texas football bowl game.
#2: She was too stickin' tiny back then to wear it even if we wanted her to.

It should be perfect for March Madness!

Bow Head

I used to think that big bows on little girls was ridiculous...until I had a little girl of my own. I can't get enough! In fact...I bought 2 new bows today! I need to get one of those bow hanger things to display all her adorable bows and headbands. I also go a little crazy with the camera every time I get a bow in her hair. This particular photo shoot started with new leggings and a jean skirt from Gammy. I happened to think that the enormous pink bow would just complete the outfit...and it did! She looked so adorable with that huge bow covering her head. So, I'm sorry to all those moms out there with little girls who wear big bows that I used to roll my eyes at. Because now I am a proud mother of a little girl who wears big bows...and I LOVE it! Go ahead and roll your eyes - I don't care.

Hardly a Snow Day

Well...1 inch of snows falls down on the ground and the whole town shuts down. No school. No work. You can see from the pictures that the snow was already melting by about noon. It didn't really matter - Brooks still had a great time playing with Gammy and Pops. Laney even came out a bit to see what all the fuss was about. But she's a "princess" and didn't last very long outside in the cold. Seeing the little bit of snow we got sure did make me miss Colorado. It's funny how an inch of snow will shut everything down around here, but it takes over 20 inches to shut down schools in Colorado (see picture below).

Colorado Snow:

The bottom line: Snow is snow and it's all fun no matter the amount.

sweet pics

The other night Brooks was being especially sweet to Laney. The two of them were so happy on the ground talking and reading together. Brooks read "Lion King" and "There was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Pie". He would flip to every page and say, "I don't know he swallowed a pie. A pumpkin pie. Oh my gosh!" He's tried so hard to remember the words and think about the story. He always has been so fascinated by books! I just love that instead of "Perhaps she'll die" he'd say "A pumpkin pie!"

Daddy and his little girl.

Bath time in Aunt Joy's sink.

I had a hard time waking Laney up to eat...she was so cozy.

Brooks and I love hanging out on the weekends while everyone else is sleeping.

I got Brooks to "model" for me a bit...gosh, I love that smile!
