Watching him grow!!!

Brooks is growing so much everyday. I think because he was so tiny, he has a lot of catching up to do. I read today that by 4-5 months a baby should double in size. Brooks just hit 9lbs. 11oz. - already double his birth weight and then some. He is finally growing out of some of his newborn clothes. He even has a couple of wrinkles on his legs.
There is so much that I love about my baby boy.

I love...
...that he can focus on my face
...that when you lift his legs close to his chest - he farts
...when he smiles at all my silly noises
...his bright, big, blue eyes (we'll see if they stay that color)
...how he stands up and practices being a "big boy"
...that he talks back
...how happy he gets on his changing table
...how soft his skin is
...how he struggles to lift his head when playing on his tummy
...that now he can hold on tight to my neck when I carry him around
...that he is a good eater
...EVERYTHING really!

Here are a couple of pictures that I've taken lately - how can you not just LOVE this baby!

Time with Family

This past week Aunt Jill and Cousin Brodie came to visit. It was great to see family! Brodie is 2 and kept us really busy. We had plenty of fun going to the park, swimming, or just playing at the house. Brodie especially loved giving Baby Brooks lots of hugs and kisses.

Brooks's Girlfriend

So, Brooks is already set up for a future wife. This is his girlfriend - Tenley. I know, I know...she is slightly bigger than he is, but he'll catch up. She's only 4 months older, and such a ham. Brooks isn't totally aware of her yet, but we are trying to get them well aquatinted since they are going to spend the rest of their lives together. Check out her blog to see how adorable she is.

Oh Poop!

Well, I knew it was bound to happen - but that doesn't mean that I was prepared. I was changing Brooks's diaper the other day and he had peed through his diaper and spit up all over himself. I decided that I should wipe him off in the sink a little bit. I got him naked and was holding him against my chest and looking in the mirror. I couldn't get enough of his little tushie! Turns out that I shouldn't have spent so much time staring at him in the mirror. As I walked to the bathroom, he started peeing on me. "Okay, I can handle a little pee!" I thought. And then there was an explosion in my hand! I pulled my hand out from under that cute little tushie - and I had a handful of that wonderful mustardy-yellow breast feed poop in my hand. I started washing off my hand and then another smaller explosion all over me and the floor. By this time, Brooks and I are practically covered in poop. I decided that we should probably just take a bath together. And after our bath we rinsed off in the shower. Brooks seemed to enjoy it! And when I finally got back in his room to put his clothes on, he started farting (but luckily he was only farting). What an afternoon!

The First Five Weeks

Brooks is doing great! He is gaining good weight and really keeping us entertained with all his funny faces (and even giving us a smile every once in a while). He is such a cool little kid!

One Month Old

Every month I plan on taking a picture of Brooks in this chair to see how he is growing. Today he is one month old. He is 7lbs and 6oz and 20 inches. I can't wait to see how much he grows this next month.
